Hygienic continuous re-circulation for pharmaceutical water systems
Maintaining water quality from generation to point-of-use with GMP compliance
The GM Water PW & WFI Storage and Distribution System is a critical component of pharmaceutical water systems, designed to safely store and continuously circulate high-purity water while maintaining its chemical and microbiological quality in full compliance with GMP, WHO, and global pharmacopeia standards.
The system consists of a hygienically designed storage tank and a continuous re-circulation distribution loop, ensuring that purified water is always available at the required points of use with consistent quality. The entire system is engineered to prevent stagnation, microbial growth, and contamination, which are key risks in pharmaceutical water handling.
PW & WFI storage tanks are constructed from SS 316L with sanitary internal finishes, designed with features such as spray balls for effective CIP, hydrophobic vent filters, level transmitters, and temperature control provisions.
For WFI systems, the tanks and distribution loop are designed for continuous hot water circulation and periodic sanitization to ensure maximum microbial control. The distribution loop is fabricated using SS 316L hygienic piping with orbital welding, ensuring smooth internal surfaces, minimal dead legs, and excellent drain-ability.
The system is designed with a constant re-circulation flow velocity to prevent biofilm formation and maintain uniform water quality across all user points.
The entire PW & WFI storage and distribution system is fully automated and PLC–HMI controlled, with real-time monitoring of crucial parameters such as conductivity, temperature, pressure, flow rate, and TOC. An optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliant automation package is available for validated pharmaceutical environments.
With robust engineering, hygienic construction, and intelligent automation, GM Water PW & WFI Storage and Distribution Systems ensure:
Engineered to maintain constant circulation, preventing stagnation and supporting microbiological control throughout the loop.
All product contact surfaces fabricated in SS 316L with orbital welding and sanitary fittings to minimize contamination risk.
Loop velocities are designed and maintained to ensure turbulent flow, supporting consistent water quality and system hygiene.
Hygienically designed storage tanks with proper vent filtration, spray devices, and drainability to maintain system integrity.
Automated operation with alarms, interlocks, and trend logging to support controlled and repeatable system performance. Real-time measurement of conductivity and TOC at critical locations.
Designed to support validated sanitization strategies for effective microbial control and long-term reliability.
Optional automation package available to support electronic records, audit trails, and validated pharmaceutical environments.
Continuous monitoring of conductivity, TOC, temperature, pressure, and flow rate at critical locations for quality verification.
